Is Pi Coin worth mining? Value of Pi Coin is...

Well… I am Android developer and I found some interesting stuff regarding Pi App which is used to mine Pi coins on Pi Network. I am using Pi app since August 2020 and haven’t found any major vulnerability regarding the Pi app. And it doesn’t need any investment either. Just a ‘CLICK’ every day.

As I am android developer by profession I carried out some experiments around Pi app.

First of all lets take a look at what permissions are required to the Pi app.

You can see it yourself from the App Information screen on Google Playstore permission section.

I have analysed these permissions below are my conclusions.

1. Contacts : This permission is not mandatory. You can skip this permission or not allow this permission. This is used only to send invitation to your contacts. If you are concerned about your contacts security, you should not allow this permission for pi app. Still you can send invitations to your friends by simply clicking on INVITE button on pi app and selecting the medium of invitation like WhatsApp, Gmail, SMS etc.
2. Run on startup (Default enabled permission) : Every app uses this permission to run services which are responsible to receive the notifications.
3. View Network Connections (Default enabled permission) : This permission is used to check if the device is connected to internet. Of course all apps need this permission in today's world.
4. Prevent phone from sleeping (Default enabled permission) : App uses this permission to keep screen on while app is running in foreground. This means the screen will not sleep while this app is running on main screen. Not a big issue.
5. View Wifi Connections (Default enabled permission) : Not sure about this permission but may be it is used to update the app only if the device is connected to Wifi.
6. Receive data from internet (Default enabled permission) : Common permission required by every app that uses internet for connection with server.
7. Have full network access (Default enabled permission) : This permission is used by 83% of apps allows an app to access whatever network the device is connected to at the time. Again not a big issue here.
8. Play install referrer API (Default enabled permission) : This permission is required to make referral mechanism work.

Now another thing that I found is when you start mining from the App and Force Stop the application. Then also mining will work for 24hrs. This means you can kill the applications all processes which are working in background and save your battery and data consumption and yet you are mining the coin without any of resources being used. You can check it by yourself.

1. If you have not installed app then install app from https://minepi.com/bhagyawant and sign up and use my invitation code bhagyawant
2. Once you sign up you will land to home screen. You can Click on π and start the mining.
3. Now open the App Info and Force Stop the app.

Now check Pi app after 24hrs you will see Pi cons added to your Pi Network app.
